  • In the Jianyang area of Fujian Province during the Song Dynasty, kiln workers used porcelain clay with high iron content to produce Jianzhan. At that time, tea culture was prevalent, and Jianzhan, due to its unique texture and glaze color, could well display the color and state of tea foam in tea fighting, so it was deeply loved by literati, scholars, and ordinary people. Its glaze colors mainly include various precious varieties such as rabbit hair, oil droplets, and obsidian. These exquisite architectural cups have also become treasures in porcelain at that time and have had a profound impact on the development of ceramics in later generations.

  • The production process of Jianzhan includes multiple steps: selecting porcelain ore, crushing, washing, batching, aging, refining, pulling, repairing, firing, glazing, kiln loading, and roasting.
Select porcelain ore with high iron content, grind it and wash it with appropriate thickness. After aging, refine and knead the mud. The blank can be made by hand or by mold, and the blank can be trimmed into shallow circles. Plain burning can increase the strength of the green body. Use natural iron glaze ore and wood ash for glazing. When glazing, apply half glaze to the lamp. When installing the kiln, the electric kiln is padded with alumina powder, while the dragon kiln uses a box bowl. When roasting, Changlong kiln was used in the Song Dynasty, while electric kiln is more commonly used in modern times. It is necessary to grasp the atmosphere of restoration, and the master must operate carefully. The final quality inspection shows that the qualified products are delivered from the factory.
